Carlota Pradera is an interdisciplinary freelance improviser, performer, choreographer, and educator. Carlota received a SandBox Series 2013-2014 artistic residency by The Miami Theater Center and The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation to create Bare Bones in collaboration with interdisciplinary dance artist, choreographer, educator, and director Lazaro Godoy. In 2014, GodoyPradera Projects & Programs is established as an independent interdisciplinary arts platform for research, development and crafting of new works involving guest artists and educational outreach opportunities for exchange of practices and creative visions.
Carlota created and presented works: Untitled (Florida Dance Festival, 2005), Answers (Emerging Choreographer Series, 2006), Looking Back & Think Like a Guy (“Pradera & Collaborators”, 2011), To Do or Not To Do (Wynwood Art Fair, 2011), Aquarius Juice (Here & Now, 2012), Pim-Pum Pain (Miami Performance International Festival, 2013), Between Forms (Art Basel, Vizcaya Museum and Gardens, 2013).
She has been awarded numerous Artist Access Grants to attend Movement Research workshops, and an Artist Enhancement Grant to attend Trisha Brown’s intensive, NYC. As an educator, Carlota has developed inclusive residencies for children and adults through VSAFL since 2004, and worked in several Yep programs/Youth at Risk Centers (Carnival Arts/GodoyPradera Projects & Programs, Karen Peterson & Dancers), Arts for Learning, and at after-school dance programs as a coordinator and instructor as well as for local dance studios since 2001 onward. Pradera has guided workshops for professionals at Inkub8, Contemporary Sundays, and curated The Moving Perspective Festival, Inkub8, 2014. Together with Godoy, she is a guest choreographer at NOVA Southeastern University and in the past has been guest choreographer at South Miami High School and MDC Kendall Campus College.
In the Summer 2015, GodoyPradera Projects added & Programs after an intensive Summer Camp to develop “Alice in Wonderland & Fables” Art Project with children and youth, CCEMiami. Since 2013, she has been guiding actors and children at Prometeo Theater, Wolfson Campus. She holds a BA in performance and choreography, Florida International University, 2009.
