In the Fall 2007, Prometeo Theatre of the Florida Center for the Literary Arts at Miami Dade College launched an all-Spanish non-credit program in theatre that is the first of its kind in the nation.

Students who successfully complete the two-year program receive a Professional Training Certificate in Theatre Arts.

PROFESSIONAL ACTOR TRAINING:
The two-year non-credit intensive program will provide the tools needed for the student’s formation in all aspects of the profession, encouraging the development of fresh new ideas and forms of expression. We offer a rigorous, well-rounded curriculum of study for committed students where the actor’s unique potential is cultivated and encouraged.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW AND HIGHLIGHTS:
• Courses in Spanish that will aim to train the students for the acting profession and
prepare them for careers in the theatrical industry
• An extensive and demanding curriculum in acting, voice, movement and other related
disciplines that enable them to develop their skills to the point where they can successfully
create and understand the process, preparation and expectation of a theatrical performance
• Master classes with guest artists throughout the year
• The opportunity for successful graduates of the two-year program to become part of the Prometeo Theatre Company
• Distinguished award-winning instructors

APPLICATION PROCESS:
Interested students will be asked to submit an application with a $15 non-refundable fee for consideration before they are accepted to register. Deadline for application submission is Friday, August 29, 2008. Interviews and auditions, which will include 2 one-minute contrasting monologues, will be conducted September 2, 3 and 4 at 7 p.m. in Prometeo Theatre.

CURRICULUM:
Each year will consist of two full semesters (evening classes):
Fall and Spring; and a Summer Intensive
