Joann Maria Yarrow was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and directs, choreographs, and produces theater and film around the world. She comes to Prometeo from Union College in New York where she taught Acting, Directing and Theatre History. She received her M.F.A. in directing from the University of California at Irvine, where she taught, directed, and produced workshops and performances that have toured New York, London, Liverpool, and Spain. She has taught acting and voice at the Universidad de Alcala and the NYU Madrid Program. Ms. Yarrow is a member of the Society of Stage Directors and Choreographers, Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab West, the Directors Collective of L.A., and with Vernice Miller is co-founder and artistic director of the American Laboratory for Actor Training, a company created after working and training with the Odin Teatret in Denmark. As a director and choreographer, she has presented theater in Denmark, London, Madrid, Boston, New York, Los Angeles and served as the artistic director of the Sopa Americana Festival in Curitiba, Brazil. Her film production company, Standing Stone Productions, created with Stephan Jonas of Radiant-Cage Pictures and based in California has received numerous Television and Film Awards. She recently finished producing a documentary with director Brad Beckman, for Union College, titled "Beyond Offence," dealing with issues of diversity.
