Joann Maria Yarrow was born in Barranquilla, Colombia and directs, choreographs, and produces theater and film around the world. Currently she is the Artistic Director of Prometeo Theatre, the nation's only Spanish-language Acting Conservatory and the one of the nation's most reputable Hispanic theatre organizations.

As a director and choreographer, she has presented theater in Denmark, London, Madrid, Boston, New York, Los Angeles and has served as the Artistic Director of the Sopa Americana Festival in Curitiba, Brazil. Joann also co-founded of A Laboratory for Actor Training in New York, a company created with Vernice Miller after working and training with the Odin Teatret in Denmark.

Ms. Yarrow received her BFA from Boston University and her M.F.A. in directing from the University of California atIrvine. She has taught at the Universidad de Alcalá in Madrid, the NYU Madrid Program, Skidmore College, Babson College, Coast to Coast Theatre, the Lincoln Center Director's Lab West in Los Angeles, and headed the Acting Program at Union College in New York. She co-directed the film "Unspoken" that won several television and film awards as well as producing a documentary, titled "Beyond Offence," dealing with issues of diversity.

As Director of Prometeo Theatre, Ms. Yarrow created the Professional Training Program in Theatre Arts, has co-presented and directed productions for the International Hispanic Theatre Festival, produced performances for the Miami Book Fair International, as well as toured Prometeo productions to the Dominican Republic, the UCSUR Festival in Lima, Peru, the New England Russian Theatre Festival and the V International Festival of Theatre Schools in Quito, Ecuador.

In 2010 she was honored by the Miami Herald as one of South Florida's top 20 Artists under 40.
